wii 2?

I read earlier this year that IBM predicted the next iteration, the next step forward in revolutionary gaming would be pretty much a controller free setup. And whatta you know, BBC Technology have today surprisingly confirmed that this is indeed the case... to some extent. You don't have to push buttons, you don't have to hold anything in fact.

Obviously this would be a hugely important evolution from the current Wii motion sensing gaming. It could profit in virtual world scenarios, with your avatar smiling etc as and when you do. The ability to alter the camera viewpoint, as you do in reality, by turning your head, I can see as being a highly saught after possibility.

This makes me think of other uses that the technology could be used for too though.

Will there be a day not too far away where we will be able to switch the kettle on by merely making a slurping action of some sort, and a device on the kettle picks up the message from the headset and switches it on? What about doing a sort of staring action and it turns the telly on?

When thinking on the ability to pick out emotion, could this lead to a scenario, say when we feel sad, our emotion is transferred to our computer which then picks songs from our music collections that have been tagged sad songs and then plays them? -Sort of accompanying our mood?

"The possibilities are endless."
