more large background websites

I think the StrawPoll one is good as such full type images, with a house and a field and a sky look familar in our mindset, similar to the cool blue youlove.us





Being able to reflect nature in a technical medium I think is good. The blue gradient of the night sky line here works really nicely on the eye.

Other nods must go to the sheep one, which does seem to make me think that websites (ones that aren't of a highly informative nature) could go the way of postcards - visuals being the key ingredient and pleasing the eye.

Take this one I found for example:




It sells the product straight away, or at least informs of the product. Unfortunately, the large image isn't spread throughout the site, which could be to do with load times, how legible text would be.

Web really is just another medium that goes alongside newspapers, magazines, posters, postcards etc, so I like how he's tied that idea together here. It gives it a real scrap book feel, again linking into the idea of using older traditions and joining them with new.
